The 3R concept is based on an idea of shifting from a mass consumption society which we have today to one that is based on a life-cycle. Its aim is to make production process and consumption more sustainable by reducing the use of resources and energy. We can as well contribute to that by following simple advice and changing our habits.
Reduce – try to teach an old dog new tricks
Change your shopping routine and bring your own packaging. Glass bottles for milk, reusable containers for cheese and all the loose products, cotton or reusable paper bags for bread... Unfortunately, it may still seem weird in Croatia, but feel free to feel inspired here.
If the first option is not possible, at least try buying bigger packaging. Instead of grabbing several small cups of yoghurt, get a big bottle. It’s usually cheaper as well! But be careful – don’t buy something if you can’t eat it. It’s better to buy smaller than throw the food away.
Don’t get carried away with consumerism. Think twice before buying – do you really need this another pair of jeans or a new iPhone? You probably don’t.
