“You can't reach for anything new if your hands are still full of yesterday's junk”
1. Give yourself 15 minutes Taking only 15 minutes to sort through a pile, or declutter a shelf, table or counterpot is one of the ways to make your life easier. You can start by putting everything into one pile, and start with the first thing you pick up. Then ask yourself: "do I really need this? do I use this regularly? " After sorting it out, put the things you need or use in their right place. Remember that this is their "home" and you should always put them back there. Stop after 15 minutes, and continue tomorrow another 15 minutes, and so on, one small spot in your home at a time. |
2. Make a donation once a year
Getting rid of the clothes you don't need will make your mornings much easier.
First, go through your clothes and find all the ones that you know you will never wear again, either because they don't fit or fit poorly, they are damaged/stained, they were bad decisions or unwanted gifts, or you don't look or feel good in them. Then, instead of throwing them away, why not give them to someone who needs?

3. Make goals, make rules
Examine the way that you do things and how things make their way into your life. Write down your goals and rules step by step and try to follow them as best as you can. Follow them and you will keep the clutter minimized.

4. Clean up your digital desktop
The stuff on your digital desktop might not be cluttering up your home but it's doing a number to your brain.

5. If it takes less than 2 minutes, just do it
This rule will help you stop extra piles of things appearing around the house. What about that email you have to reply, what about that form to fill, what about that bin that needs emptying? All these types of things when left can create a mess and clutter,so do them as soon as you see them.
