Society and values - related movies
Last week we presented you a different perspective on sustainability with our weekly subject “Society and Values”. Connect with people is the hardest and the most important aspect of a sustainable lifestyle. Keeping that in mind, we selected some inspiring documentaries that focus precisely on the connection between people, their values and living sustainabily and socially integrated.
"Human" (2015)
"I dreamed of a film in which the power of the words resonates over the beauty of the world. By exploring the experiences of the Other, I was in search of understanding. I didn’t look for an answer in statistics or analysis, but in man himself. It is in faces, looks, and words that I find a powerful way of reaching the depths of the human soul. Each encounter brings you a step closer. Each story is unique." – Yann Arthus-Bertrand We always wonder what does it mean to be human and forget the fact that we are not so different. Yann Arthus-Bertand (photographer, journalist, reporter and environmentalist) gathered interviews from 2020 people from 60 different countries in order to answer to talk about the same topics such as family, love, religion, ambition, and failure. These stories are full of love as well as suffering, making us drown in introspection. More than a documentary, “Human” is an ode to the beauty of life in all forms, accompanied by a stunning soundtrack and exclusive aerial footage. |

Health and diet - related movies
During the last week subject, “Health and Diet”, we challenged you to change some lifestyle behaviours by taking some healthier and cruelty free actions. We are extremely happy for your efforts and we hope that you managed to succeed in the challenges you choose for yourself. To keep you motivated we have a selection of movies related to this subject, to keep you interested and to give you some interesting insights.
“Super Size Me” (2004) is a well-known documentary that is focused on the consequences of an unhealthy diet. Morgan Spurlock is the writer, director and the perfect example of a man who was willing to push his health to the limit during a month. His purpose was to prove how dangerous fast food can be and he conducted the following experience: eat McDonald’s super-sized meals for thirty days, three times a day. At the beginning of the experience, Spurlock was tested by doctors, a nutritionist, a dietician and a personal trainer that confirm that his health is on point. At the end of the experience, the differences are huge and disturbing. This documentary is a major eye opening for a society who is poorly informed about the impact of adopting this diet.

“Food Inc.” (2008)
This documentary gives you a look beyond the global food production business that changed over time, exposing the negative aspects of the American agriculture, a powerful agriculture system that produces to all over the world. Sick animals, environmental destruction and health issues are some of the many problems of the modern food production. The film’s main topic is the concept of “real food” and it gathers testimonies from farmers, consumers and workers. “By the time Food, Inc. started to come together, we realised that most of the food in the supermarket had become industrialised just like fast food. Then we realised there’s something going on out there that supersedes foods. |

Our rights are being denied in ways that I had never imagined. And it was scary and shocking”, says director Kenner. It’s impossible to watch the movie without asking ourselves the following questions: “Is it real food what we are eating? How do we know if we are making nutritious and healthy choices? How do we know if a certain product is sustainable?”. “Food Inc.” shows an important perspective to the power of the average consumer and the power of free-will.
"Food reLOVution" (2016)
If you want to know more about the consequences of meat culture we suggest “Food reLOVution”, a documentary by Thomas Torelli. Like “Food, In.”, “choice” is the key-word of this movie that aims to inspire you to make a difference in the world by knowing what you eat |
